This blog’s URL, Becoming Self Sufficient, is a tad inaccurate.

The reasons for the name are rather prosaic. Cathie’s previous blog was called Becoming Domestic and it was pretty popular for a while, we just copied and used the same sort of name. However, we now feel it is worth disclaiming that whilst we’re definitely working towards having lower energy requirements, we are growing our own food and we’re investigating older, less energy intensive technologies we’re certainly not working towards having everything that we use or consume being produced by us.

In fact we think that personal self sufficiency is a mythical and an unobtainable goal unless one were to have a pretty miserable (and probably short) existence.

So, this blog’s title should probably be something like Becoming More Resilient, Self-Reliant and Living a Simpler Life but as it’s not so catchy, the old one stays.
